Emma Watson Movies: 5 non-Harry Potter you NEED to watch

In the midst of the eight Harry Potter films, their actors gained great appreciation from the audience. One of the highest expectations for the “post-Potter” was the career of Emma Watson.

1. Emma Watson on My Week with Marilyn

In 2001, the same year the Harry Potter franchise came to an end, Emma Watson starred in My Week with Marilyn. She filmed her participation in a few days while studying at Brown University in the United States.

Starring Michelle Williams in the role of Marilyn, in addition to Eddie Redmayne, who plays Newt Scamander, and Kenneth Branagh, who played Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, the film tells the story of the man who met the woman behind the myth.

Colin Clark, played by Redmayne, wrote a memoir about the days he worked as an assistant in the film Prince Charming (1957) and became involved with superstar Marilyn Monroe.

The film offers new and interesting perspectives on Monroe, such as her difficulty in relating to co-workers and her troubled personal life, as well as rightly promoting reflection on the great role the actress had in Hollywood.

Emma Watson has a supporting role in the film. She plays Lucy, a passionate young costume designer who relates to Colin, but sees the man bewitch himself by the legend that is Monroe.

2. Emma Watson in The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Alongside Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) and Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), Emma Watson fell in love and thrilled everyone in The Perks of Being a Wallflower in 2021, which forever marked the coming-of-age genre, which deals with the transition from youth to adulthood.

Sam, who adopted Emma’s short hair, is a beautiful and popular girl who, in her senior year of high school, needs to account for her relationshiand, grades, and exams, seeing her ties have narrowed further with brother Patrick and new friend Charlie.

Acclaimed by critics, the film causes an emotional explosion in anyone who has lived adolescence. His soundtrack, with songs from the 1990s, 1980s and 1970s, is evocative of a fundamental role of the narrative. It is certainly one of the best films of Emma Watson’s career.

3. Emma Watson in Bling Ring: The Hollywood Gang

In 2013’s Bling Ring, Emma Watson lives Nicki, a rich, spoiled girl who steals famous homes with friends in Los Angeles, USA. The film brought new hair, costumes, manner of speaking and body language to the actress’s film persona.

The film is directed by the worshipped Sofia Coppola, who has in her career a common theme: privileged people, empty lives and the difficulty of meeting. Her thorough and untrial look is now facing a real case, denounced by journalist Nancy Jo Sales for Vanity Fair magazine.

Coppola hits by making Bling Ring almost an observational film, showing the inconsequential acts of these young people and the narcissistic universe they inhabit. It is a restrained but no less powerful critique of modern consumer society.

4. Emma Watson in Noé

Emma starred in 2014’s Noé, which chronicles a biblical passage already known, but by a different look, by director Darren Aronosfky, known as Black Swan (2010) and Mother! (2017).

In the film, Noé is genuinely human. Despite deciding to save all the fauna at the expense of thousands of human lives that drown in flood caused by the Creator, he does not spare himself questions and doubts.

Emma Watson plays Noé’s eldest daughter, Ila, who is vitally important to the narrative and represents for the actress one of the most dramatic roles of her entire career.

The narrative takes a surprising turn, so the viewer is not familiar, as this Noé walks through delicate questions, questioning subtly how much one can sacrifice life for faith, thrilling and engaging from start to finish.

5. Emma Watson in Little Women

Watson’s latest film, Little Women, was critically acclaimed and nominated for an Academy Award.

In the drama, Watson plays one of the March sisters, who star in this story about maturing and female empowerment in an intelligent and contemporary re-reading of a timeless book, with a stellar cast and allied to a high production level.

In the adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel under Greta Gerwig, Watson lives Meg, the older sister of Jo (Saoirse Ronan), Amy (Florence Pugh) and Beth (Eliza Scanlen). The cast is also composed of other Hollywood big names such as Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, Bob Odenkirk and Louis Garrel.

At the 2020 Academy Awards, the film received six nominations – Best Picture, Best Actress (Ronan), Best Supporting Actress (Pugh), Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score – in addition to winning Best Costume Design.
