A cerimônia do Tony, considerado o “Oscar do teatro”, aconteceu neste domingo, 16 Junho, e Daniel Radcliffe levou a estatueta de Melhor Ator Coadjuvante por sua interpretação de Charley Kringras no musical Merrily We Roll Along.
This was Radcliffe’s first nomination and first win at the awards. He was up against Roger Bart (Back To The Future: The Musical), Joshue Boone (The Outsiders), Brandon Victor Dixon (Hell’s Kitchen), Sky Lakota-Lynch (The Outsiders) and Steven Skybell (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club) in the category of “Supporting Actor in a Musical”.
In his acceptance speech, Daniel thanked the entire crew of the play, his co-stars, Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendes, his agent, his costume designer, his singing teacher, his parents, his partner, Erin, and his son, “Erin, my love. This is the fourth play that Radcliffe has starred in on Broadway, the first being Equus, in 2008, when he was still playing Harry Potter in theaters. The musical Merrily We Roll Along runs on Broadway through July 7, 2024.
