Zoë Kravitz will be Catwoman in new Batman film with Robert Pattinson

The actress Zoë Kravitz, who plays Leta Lestrange in the Fantastic Beasts series, was announced as Catwoman in the new Batman film. The character will be the villain of the first movie started by Robert Pattison (Cedric Diggory) as Batman.

According to the reporter Justin Kroll, from the news website Variety, the actresses Eiza González and Zazie Beetz also auditioned for the role, as Zoë would be busy shooting the third film from the Fantastic Beast series. This suggests that even though her character has apparently died in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the character may appear again in the next movies.

Originally, the film would be written, directed and starred by Ben Affleck, who portrayed Batman in the first films of the DC Extended Universe. Among rumours that the actor would leave the film, he has reaffirmed his commitment. In January 2017, however, the actor announced he would leave the direction, which was confirmed in January 2019 by Warner Bros. Pictures. In May, the Studio announced the role would be played by Robert Pattinson, who gave life to Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.

Besides Zoë Kravitz and Robert Pattison, the actor Ezra Miller, who portrays Credence Barebone/ Aurelius Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts, is also part of the DC Extended Universe. He plays Flash, the hero with supernatural speed power – and he may also get his own film soon.

The Batman hits the movie theatres in June 2021. According to the director, the film will not show the character’s origin.
