Tom Felton stays on as Draco: Cursed Child extends his Broadway run to November

The Draco Malfoy of the films is in no hurry to leave the stage, and audiences are glad of it. Tom Felton has extended his run in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway and, according to Playbill, will now play the role through 1 November 2026.

Felton debuted in the play on 11 November 2025, making history as the first actor from the films to join the stage production. That is no small thing. The blond boy who grew up in front of the cameras put on Slytherin green and silver again, this time live, eight shows a week, on the stage of the Lyric Theatre in New York.

When his casting was announced in 2025, Felton himself summed up the weight of the moment, calling it a full-circle moment: “Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life”.

The box office responded at once. Since Felton’s return, Cursed Child shot to the top of Broadway’s weekly grosses and, again per Playbill, set a record of US$3.7 million in a single nine-performance week, the one ending 28 December 2025, the biggest in the Lyric Theatre’s history. The original plan ran to May. Demand pushed the run to November.

There is a neat symmetry to it. While the original Draco revisits the character on stage, now grown up, the HBO series is preparing a new Malfoy for the screen in young Lox Pratt. The old and the new, side by side, in the same year.

An honest caveat: this is a play in New York, not a stream, so seeing Felton in the role again means a plane ticket and a seat. If you are planning the trip, mind his scheduled absences: 17 to 23 August, 14 to 20 September and 12 to 18 October. Still, for anyone who grew up with these films, knowing he said yes is the kind of news that warms a fan’s heart.
