New Harry Potter roller coaster will have beasts and Hagrid’s animation
by Aline MichelThe new Harry Potter’s rollercoaster at Universal park in Orlando, United States, got new images showing an animated figure of Hagrid, the groundskeeper of Hogwarts, and some magic beasts the visitors will find during the tour at the Forbidden Forest.
The attraction, named Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, is to be opened on June 13, 2019, in Hogsmeade, area of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, placed at Universal’s Islands of Adventure park.
The Universal Orlando team worked together with the actor Robbie Coltrane, who portrayed Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, to create the animated figure that appears on the rollercoaster. 2.31 meters-tall, the figure is proportional to the character’s height and presents 24 different corporal movements and facial expressions faithfully impersonating the actor’s interpretation. Its clothes were designed by the same team from the movies and Robert Coltrane recorded a script of customized lines for the attraction.
The part also released images of some magical beasts that are part of the attraction. Besides the beasts already known by the fans, such as Centaurs, Cornish Pixies, and Fluffy, the three-head dog, the visitors will also see, for the first time a Blast-ended Skrewt. It is a cross between a giant scorpion and an elongated crab which was presented by Hagrid in the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire during the Care of Magical Creatures classes.
