Harry Potter and the Cursed Child announces its third cast for the presentations in Londonby Aline Michel
New troupe members of the British production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child began rehearsals for its third cast, which debuts on May 23rd. The news was revealed by Pottermore.
Jamie Ballard (Penny Dreadful) takes the role of Harry Potter and Susie Trayling (The White Princess) takes that of Ginny Weasley. Scorpius Malfoy and Albus Potter will be portrayed respectively by Jonathan Case (Another Country) and Joe Idris-Roberts (National Theatre’s Pinocchio).
Unlike the first cast change, some protagonists will remain in their roles, such as Rakie Ayola (Hermione Granger), Thomas Aldrige (Ron Weasley), James Howard (Draco Malfoy) and Helen Aluko (Rose Grange-Weasley).
Rosemary Annabella, David Annen, Danny Dalton, Leah Haile, April Hughes, Martin Johnston, Barry McCarthy, Sandy McDade, James McGregor, Annette McLaughlin, Tom Peters, James Phoon, Eve Ponsonby, Kate Russell-Smith, Sinéad Sharkey, Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn, Mark Theodore e Joshua Wyatt remain in the cast, which will also welcome Jordan Bamford, Emma Bown, Adrian Christopher, Craig Connolly, Gareth Kennerley, Susan Lawson-Reynolds, Ryan J Mackay, David Mara e Dylan Mason. In all, 42 actors and actresses take turns on several roles, including seven children.
Among the actors and actresses leaving the cast are Jamie Glover (Harry Potter), Emma Lowndes (Ginny Potter), Samuel Blenkin (Scorpius Malfoy) and Theo Ancient (Albus Potter), as well as Ruthxjiah Bellenea, Ruppert Henderson, Elizabeth Hill, Sarah Miele, Jordan Paris, Henry Rundle, Ged Simmons, Gideon Turner and Ed White. Nicola Alexis, Phoebe Austen, Annabel Baldwin, Jabez Cheeseman, Morag Cross, Esme Grace, Lowri James, Alfred Jones, Tom Mackley, Harrison Noble, Ben Roberts, Nuno Silva and Hope Sizer, members of the cast since its debut in 2016, are also leaving the production.
It was also announced a new lot of tickets will be up for sale on April 5th pertaining to shows between January 16th, 2019 and April 7th, 2019.
A public and critical success, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been playing at the British capital since July 2016. In addition to London, the play is being prepared to premiere at the Lyric Theater on Broadway, New York, where it will feature the original lead cast and a theater renovated exclusively for the play. The production will also debut at the Princess Theater in Melbourne, Australia, in 2019.
