Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: HBO confirms Christmas 2026 premiere and releases first teaser

The news the fandom had been waiting for finally arrived. On 25 March 2026, HBO released the first official teaser for the new Harry Potter series, and with it came confirmation of everything: the title, the premiere date, and the first real look at the world being built at Leavesden.

The first season is officially titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It premieres on Christmas Day 2026, 25 December, on HBO and HBO Max where available, including new markets such as the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy.

What the teaser shows

The teaser goes further than expected, it runs over two minutes and offers a genuine window into the tone and visual direction of the series. We see Harry at Muggle school, Petunia cutting his hair with scissors, a snowball fight at Hogwarts, and a Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. Moments that the films cut or rushed, now given room to breathe.

The visual design is striking: a more organic, nature-rooted aesthetic with trees growing through the very stones of the castle, a Hogsmeade Station with a palette quite different from what we knew. It’s clearly its own visual identity, faithful to the books but unafraid to be new.

Official logline

“There is nothing special about Harry Potter, at least that’s what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. But with this new adventure comes great risk as Harry is forced to face a dangerous enemy from his past.”

Here at Potterish, we’ve been covering Harry Potter since ‘series’ was a word you associated with books on a shelf. Watching this teaser was one of those moments where everything suddenly felt very real. Christmas 2026 cannot come soon enough.
