Neville Longbottom and Dudley Dursley get new faces in the HBO series
by Marcelo NevesIn July 2025, with filming already underway at Leavesden, HBO continued filling in the cast with announcements that will make fans of the supporting characters very happy.
Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom — and what a weight that role carries. Neville is a character who began as comic relief and ended as one of the most beloved heroes in the series. Matthew Lewis grew with him across the films and the transformation — on screen and off — became the stuff of legend. Wilmot will have to forge his own path with the character, which is precisely the kind of challenge that makes these productions so compelling to follow.
Amos Kitson will be Dudley Dursley, Harry’s insufferable cousin. The role demands a precise balance of comedy and cruelty — and there’s more room here than in the films to explore Dudley properly, since the books give him a quietly interesting arc that was inevitably compressed on screen.
More faculty additions
Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch — the flying instructor nobody forgets — and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander, the most intriguing wand-maker in Diagon Alley.
The cast for the first season is nearly complete. And with every new name, the series becomes less speculation and more concrete anticipation.
