Family confirmed: HBO reveals the Weasleys, the Malfoys and the Dursleys

The Weasleys have arrived. So have the Malfoys. And the Dursleys are already ready to make Harry’s life a misery.

On 9 June 2025, HBO released a wave of casting announcements that rendered a good few people’s afternoons completely unproductive — and here at Potterish we were no different.

Weasley family

Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley — the British actress best known for The IT Crowd brings exactly the maternal warmth and fierce strength Molly needs. Tristan Harland and Gabriel Harland as Fred and George — real twins playing fictional twins, a detail the production didn’t have to get right but did. Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley and Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley complete the family.

Malfoy family

Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy — an intriguing choice for the most detestable aristocrat at Hogwarts. Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy — a new Draco is coming to make the trio’s life difficult.

Dursley family and others

Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley and Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley — the worst relatives in British fiction, new faces and all. Bertie Carvel was confirmed as Cornelius Fudge.

Among the Hogwarts students: Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe and William Nash as Gregory Goyle.

Each new name fills in a world we know so well with fresh faces. It’s a process that feels strange and magical at the same time — exactly as Harry Potter always has.
