Confirmed: Harry Potter series filming begins summer 2025 at Leavesden
by Marcelo NevesIn the same presentation where the audition numbers were revealed, came the announcement fans had been waiting for: filming begins in summer 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.
Yes — the same studios.
Leavesden, in Watford, Hertfordshire, is where all eight Harry Potter films were made. Where the iconic Hogwarts sets were built, where the scenes that defined a generation came to life. Today it also serves as a tourist destination — the Making of Harry Potter tour draws thousands of visitors every year — and now it’s about to make Harry Potter for real again.
Why Leavesden matters
Using the same location isn’t coincidence or nostalgia. It’s a deliberate creative choice. Much of the original set infrastructure still exists there. There’s a physical memory to that place the production can draw on — and build new spaces around what already exists.
For fans who have visited Leavesden and felt the magic of those corridors, the idea that a new Harry, a new Hermione and a new Ron will walk through the same spaces carries a particular kind of poetry.
Summer 2025 in the northern hemisphere means June or July. Cameras were going to roll in a matter of months. We were going to be here, covering every development.
