“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” Wins 3 Awards

Director John Tiffany was chosen as Best Director, while Christine Jones took home the award for Best Designer. Anthony Boyle, who plays Scorpius Malfoy, won as Most Promising Newcomer. The actor is also running for Best Supporting Actor at the WhatsOnStage Awards.

Boyle said in an recent interview that, actually, he didn’t expect to play Draco Malfoy’s son. He thought he would play a younger Sirius Black. According to the actor, he auditioned for a main role, but didn’t know which it would be until he got the script.
Part of the cast, like Sam Clemmett (Albus Potter), Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) and writer Jack Thorne were also at the ceremony.

The Critic’s Circle Theater Awards happens since 1989 and is organised by the Drama Section of the Critics’ Circle, an association that exists since 1913 to protect and promote cultural criticism in the UK.
