J.K. Rowling sends books and gifts to Indian school

J.K. Rowling sent a box of gifts to students from a public school in the state of Jammu Kashmir, India. The author had been contacted at the beginning of the year by the school principal. Sabbah Haji Baji, who invited her to meet the kids, in special the twelve-year-old student Kulsum Bano Batt, fan of the writer and Harry Potter.

“Dear J.K. Rowling. Kulsum, 12, a first generation English learner from the Himalayas would like to meet you someday. So, come to visit us at Haji Public School”, she wrote on Twitter, in April, and Rowling answered it asking Kulsum’s full name by direct message.

After almost six weeks, it arrived at school a box with signed Harry Potter books, toys, a handwritten note and other objects related to The Wizarding World. Sabbah went back to Twitter to thank the gifts: “We are so thrilled and squeaky, I cannot even. Thank you so much, Ms. Rowling”, the principal wrote.

Because of a remote localization, the delivery took more time than expected. “I’m so happy it got there! I was getting worried!”, Rowling answered.
