Cursed Child wins six Tony Awards

The play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child won in six categories of Tony Awards, the most important North-American theater awards, which took place in New York on June 10th.

Cursed Child was the second most awarded play, just after The Band’s Visit, which won in 10 categories. The Harry Potter play, which had received ten nominations which had received ten nominations, won in the categories: Best Scenic Design of a Play, Best Lightening Design of a Play, Best Costume Design of a Play, Best Sound Design in a Play, Best Director of a Play (John Tiffany) and Best Play. The actors Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy) were nominated in acting categories, but were not awarded.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been playing on Broadway, New York since April 2018, with the original main cast and on a theater exclusively reformed for the play. The production has been playing at Palace Theatre, in London, since July, 2016.
