Daniel Radcliffe is an activist in a film about the system of racial segregation

Daniel Radcliffe went through a complete transformation for his next role in the big screen. In Escape from Pretoria, the actor portrays a real-life character, Timothy Peter Jenkin, a South-African writer who became well-known for escaping a maximum security prison after being arrested for taking part in an organization that intended to end Apartheid.

The film is based on the writer’s autobiography, Inside Out: Escape From Pretoria Prison, in which he tells his days as a political prisoner during Apartheid, a system of racial segregation implanted in South Africa between 1948 and 1994. Jenkin was arrested in the Pretoria prison for working with the African National Congress, an organization which intended to end Apartheid.

Escape from Pretoria Escape from Pretoria is being shot in Adelaide, Australia and has no premiere date yet.
