J.K. Rowling indicates that Fantastic Beasts 3 will take place in Rio de Janeiro

Early this morning (1), the autor J.K. Rowling answered a fan on Twitter who asked what was on her cover photo. She explained it was a postcard of Rio Branco Avenue, in Rio de Janeiro, in the 1930s.

The author, correcting her spelling of “Rio da Janeiro”, said she really ought to be able to spell the city’s name correctly, “given how many times she’s written/typed it in the last few months”.

The author also liked several tweets from fans asking if Newt Scamander would come to Brazil and if it would be in the third movie, the sequence of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

This is not the first time Rowling give signs that the characters of Fantastic Beasts would come to Brazil. In August, 2018, when answering a fan about the possibility of Newt visit the country, the author said: Newt still has three movies ahead [The Crimes of Grindelwald]… give him some time”

Even if it takes place in Brazil, the movies will mainly be  filmed in the Leavesden Studios, in England, just like the first and second movies of the franchise, which take place in New York and Paris.
