J.K. Rowling promises film outside of Europe and North AmericaPor Rodrigo Cavalheiro
In an interview to Entertainment Weekly, J.K. Rowling, screenwriter of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, revealed her plans to the next films, which might show how the wizarding world works in other continents.
“It’s far too early to spoil anything,” she said when asked which cities will be visited in the franchise. “What I can say is that we’ll go to at least one new city in the next film, possibly two, and I’m keen to move outside Europe and North America.”
Last August, a Twitter user asked if there was a chance of the magizoologist Newt Scamander visiting Brazil, to which Rowling answered: “Newt’s still got three movies after this one [Crimes of Grindelwald]… give him time.”
The author also used the interview to discuss the story’s development. “As with the Harry Potter books, it is all mapped out,” she said. “It’s always possible that some details will change along the way, but the arc of the story is there.”
With Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterson, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Johnny Depp, and Jude Law, Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald opens worldwide on November 16th, 2018. The third movie, still untitled, might open on November 20th, 2020.
