Exhibition of Giant Wands on Behalf of J.K. Rowling’s Charity is Opened in London

The outdoor installation with the nine wands from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts which composes the Wizarding World logotype was opened on October 18, in London with the presence of the Grenadier Guards.

The installation, which aims to promote Lumos (the charity founded by J.K. Rowling), counts on nine 4,5-meter-tall wands and is located on the pedestrians passage between Millennium Bridge and St. Paul Cathedral. Every night, the tip of the wands are enlightened with musical effects every  30 minutes. In addition, the visitors will be able to take part in special activities every Wednesday. On October 24, the choreographer Paul Harris made a demonstration of how to cast a spell. On October 31, Halloween, there will be a talk about spells, especially focused on Dark Arts. On November 7, a military band will play songs from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts’ soundtrack.

Lumos helps children and teenagers who live in orphanages to return to their families. The author founded the charity considering that living in an orphanage impairs a child’s welfare. “A person who grows in an orphanage is ten times more likely to be involved in prostitution, forty times more likely to have a criminal record, five hundred times more likely to commit suicide”, explained the writer on an institutional video. To know better Lumos work and find out how to help them, access the charity’s official website.

The installation ends on November 13, 2018. For more information, access the official website.
