Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald ︎◆ Lumos

London welcomes installation with giant wands to raise awareness for J.K. Rowling’s NGO

Between October 18th and November 12th, London will receive an open air installation featuring the nine wands that constitute the Wizarding World logo. Besides promoting Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, the exhibit seeks to raise awareness for Lumos, NGO founded by J.K. Rowling.

The wands are fifteen feet tall, and on display at the walkway between Millenium Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedral. The bridges will be illuminated every night after 6:45pm. On Wednesdays, visitors can participate in wand training and watch a military marching band in a live performance of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts soundtracks.

The exhibit was created by Warner Bros. in partnership with the City Of London Arts Initiative.

Lumos helps children and teenangers who live in orphanages to return to their families. The writer created the NGO taking into consideration that life at orphanages harms the well-being of a child. “A child that grows up in an orphanage is ten times more likely to be involved in prostitution, forty times more likely to have a criminal record, and five hundred times more likely to commit suicide”, explained the writer in an institutional video.
