Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is nominated for 10 Tony Awards

American Theatre Wings reveled last Tuesday morning (1) the nominees for the 72nd Annual Tony Awards, the most important North-American theater award. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which premiered on April 26th on Broadway, was one of the plays with the biggest number of nominations, only behind the new production of Angels in America.

The nominees were Jamie Parker (Best Leading Actor in a Play), Anthony Boyle (Best Featured Actor in a Play), Noma Dumezweni (Best Actress in a Play), Christine Jones (Best Scenic Design of a Play), Katrina Lindsay (Best Costume Design of a Play), Neil Austin (Best Lighting Design of a Play), John Tiffany (Best Director of a Play), Steven Hoggett (Best Choreography), Gareth Fry (Best Design in a Play). The production was also indicated for Best Play, being represented by its screenwriter, Jack Thorne, and the producers Sonia Friedman Productions, Collin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.

Two days after its debut, Cursed Child on Broadway is nominated 10 times for an award

The 72nd Annual Tony Award will be held on June 10th, 2018. The award, considered the Oscar of the Theater, is voted by members of the association of actors, screenwriters, stage directors, choreographers, performers and press agents.
