Harry Potter and the Cursed Child breaks box office record on Broadway

The play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child broke the record of the highest single-week gross in Broadway’s history. Between April 2nd and 8th, the play raked 2.138.859 dollars, with 8 shows.

The record belonged to All the Way, which raked 1.623.495 dollars in June 2014. Playbill, a magazine which focuses on Broadway shows noticed that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s deed is even more impressive, because despite the fact that the play hasn’t even premiered yet, 300 seats are sold for 40 dollars or less. The amount raked, then, does not take into consideration the production’s maintenance costs.
