Spoilers: Details on Newt Scamander’s expulsion

One of the greatest mysteries in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” has been Newt Scamander’s expulsion. In a scene featured in the trailers, Percival Graves affirms that Newt was expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for endangering human life with a creature. However, unlike Hagrid, who was also expelled, Newt still carries his wand and apparently doesn’t face great difficulties, besides his biography in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themdeclaring that he graduated school before joining the Ministry of Magic.

Before proceeding with the news, we would like to stress that J.K. Rowling confirmed on her Twitter that it will be explained on the next films, therefore, the rest of the text contains spoilers about the future of the series.

In a discovery made by user @FBAWTFTmovie, in the book “The Case of Beasts“, created by MinaLima and written by Mark Salisbury, there’s a small summary of Newt’s life, which says the hufflepuff fell in love with magical creatures from an early age. At Hogwarts he was interested in Care of Magical Creatures, like his friend Leta Lestrange. One day, Leta made an experiment that went too far, putting one life in danger. Newt, instead of letting his friend be expelled, took the blame for the experiment and was kicked out in her place.

A copy of the form read by Percival Graves can be found as well, revealing the reason why Newt’s expulsion is different from Hagrid’s. The form affirms that the Magizoologist had his expulsion suggested for illegal possession of a magical creature – a jarvey, described by Newt as an overgrown ferret, except for the fact it can talk. The infraction, which happened in 1913, was never executed, since professor Albus Dumbledore defended Newt, resulting in the withdraw of accusations.

Although all graphic material are responsibility of Miaphora Lima and Eduardo Lima and not the director or screenwriter, the duo stated a while ago they met with J.K. Rowling before the shootings started, with the exact intention of gathering details only she could know.

The first of a five film series, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is on cinemas all over the world in 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D and 4D.
