David Yates and Heyman talk about the possibility of “Fantastic Beasts” in Brazil

As announced before, Potterish attended to a press conference, on Monday (14), in London with actors Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler and Ezra Miller, as well as David Heyman and David Yates.

The second interview of the day was with both Davids – Yates, director of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and the last four “Harry Potter” movies, and Heyman, producer of all J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World cinematic universe.

The first question was about the title of the next productions. Heyman explained that “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is the name of the first one, and expect the rest to follow the “Fantastic Beasts and…” format.

About working with Rowling again, Yates affirmed that everything has her approval, and they would never do anything that may be unpleasant for the author, but he also said that she’s very  supportive. Heyman agreed, mentioning her work with Steve Kloves on the Harry Potter series.

Both affirmed that, like with “Harry Potter”, Rowling’s support was crucial. They spoke about an episode that happened during the production of “The Sorcerer’s Stone”, in which the author found the wands too elaborated. They had to be remade, just like Magizoologist Newt Scamander’s case recently.

David Yates declared that he still don’t know if he will continue on the team after the second film, but that he loves working with J.K. Rowling and the producers and for that he would like to stay. The expert said that the sequel will have a brief start in the US before getting to Europe – Paris and United Kingdom, specifically – and that they are a few days from choosing who will play young Dumbledore.

In the best #KeepTheSecrets campaign style, created for the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, Heyman refused to comment on Newt’s condition as main character before the imminent conflict between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, saying that one of the privileges of this new era of the Wizarding World is that no one knows what is going to happen.

Stealing laughter from journalists, he finished the interview talking about Brazil. After being questioned if there is any chance of having the spotlights turned to Castelobruxo, the producer said all he knows is that he will spend the end of the year in Brazil.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is available in 3D and IMAX in cinemas all over the world and marks J.K. Rowling’s debut as a screenwriter.
