New J.K. Rowling’s series will air on HBO

The new adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books, published under the name of Robert Gailbraith, “The Cormoran Strike Mysteries” caught the attention of more than just BBC One.

The series, produced for the British broadcaster, with shootings expected to happen on spring with Tom Burke as Strike, just got bought by HBO, similar to what happened to “Casual Vacancy”. The Hollywood Reporter only confirms exhibition rights in the US and Canada.

The three first “Cormoran Strike” books will be divided in seven episodes of one hour each, with “The Cuckoo’s Calling” split in three episodes and “The Silkworm” and “Career of Evil” in two episodes each.

“The Cormoran Strike Mysteries” is produced by Brontë Film and Television, with J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and Elizabeth Kilgarriff as executive producers. Michael Keillor will direct “The Cuckoo’s Calling” and Jackie Larkin will be the producer. Hopefully, the series will premier on 2017.
