David Yates talks about the possibility of a “Cursed Child” film

In interview to BBC’s Newsbeat, the director for the last four “Harry Potter” films and at least for the two first “Fantastic Beasts” films, David Yates, commented on the possibility of making a movie out of the “Cursed Child” play.

Between admitting he “had his fill with Potter” and that “Fantastic Beasts is something other”, the director says that “There’s something unique and special keeping it as a play. It’s a shame to then say ‘Let’s turn it into a movie'”.

The play’s film adaptation, although much speculated, was already denied by the author J.K. Rowling on Twitter. The film series’ actors have also denied any involvement. Only Daniel Radcliffe spoke up, revealing he would consider the idea in 30 years, making a reference to the success of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.

“Harry Potter and The Cursed Child” is the eighth Harry Potter story. Based on new writing by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, the play in being performed at the Palace Theatre in London, with tickets sold out until the end of 2017. The published version of the script (in English) became the best-selling book of the decade in the UK and the best-selling script of all time.
