The exhibition is part of celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the first publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Visitors will be able to see original pieces like drafts and drawings from J.K. Rowling, illustrator Jim Kay and Bloomsbury, the Harry Potter publisher. Rare books, manuscripts and treasures from the British Library’s archives will also be part of the exhibition.
On Pottermore’s website you can have a first look on three pieces which will be part of the exhibition, including an extract of an original draft from The Sorting Hat Song by J.K. Rowling.

Julian Harrison, head curator at the British Library, reveals to be delighted with the exhibtion:
“It’s always so thrilling to see an author’s original draft in their own handwriting, and J.K. Rowling’s draft of the Sorting Hat song is no exception. It’s integral to the Harry Potter stories, and it’s amazing to see how it was originally written and amended. We hope this provides an exciting taster of what kind of material visitors can expect to see in our exhibition.”
“Harry Potter: A History of Magic” will be on the British Library between 20th of October 2017 and 28 of January 2018.
